Bac Giang provincial leader welcomes delegation of Seogu district, Daejeon city, RoK
The Permanent Vice Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Mai Son on May 30 received the working delegation from Seo district, Daejeon city of Republic of Korea (RoK) led by Mayor Cheolmo. The delegation was received by leaders of the PPC Office, Department of Foreign Affairs and the People’s Committee of Bac Giang city.

At the meeting, PPC permanent Vice Chairman Mai Son expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of Seogu district to Bac Giang province. Besides, he briefed the guests on socio-economic situation of Bac Giang province and traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and RoK and Bac Giang and Korean partners particularly.
In recent years, Bac Giang province has made breakthroughs for development thanks to making good use of its geographical location, natural conditions and golden aged labour force as well as effective leadership. The economic scale and potentials have been dramatically improved while the people’s quality of life has been also enhanced. The economic growth has been in top provinces in Vietnam, particularly it reached 19.3 percent in 2022, the highest ever, ranking 2nd nationwide. In the first 5 months of 2023, despite numerous difficulties and challenges, the province saw positive results in socio-economic development.
Bac Giang province always maintains regular relationship with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam; actively participates in exchange activities organized by the governments of Vietnam and Korea. Bac Giang people have good sentiments for the land and people of Rok. Currently, the province is home to 344 investment projects from RoK with total registered capital of about 2,282 million USD. RoK is the leading country in terms of the number of projects among 27 countries and territories investing in Bac Giang province.
Besides, Bac Giang province has organized Korean language class in Bac Giang High School for the Gifted. PPC permanent Vice Chairman requested universities in Seogu district to support students of Bac Giang to study. In addition, he expected Bac Giang city and Seogu district will implement more effective and practical cooperative activities.

Mayor Cheolmo thanked the leaders of Bac Giang province for warmly greeting the delegation. This is his first overseas working visit after he was elected as Mayor of Seogu district. Since 2017, Bac Giang City People's Committee and Seo district government have implemented a number of exchange activities and discussion to find out the potential areas of the two localities, including the exchange program for secondary school students between the two localities. Besides, both sides organized delegation exchanges and implemented some activities such as opening online Korean language class for secondary students of Bac Giang city.

On the working visit to Bac Giang, the government of Seogu district and the people’s committee of Bac Giang city will sign a cooperative agreement on some fields of their strength. Besides, the working delegation visited some medical and education facilities in the province to discuss cooperation opportunities in coming time.
