Bac Giang to hold a Japanese Doll Exhibition

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (21/9/1973 - 21/9/2023), the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam held an Exhibition to display Japanese Dolls and introduce Japanese culture at the Bac Giang Provincial Museum. The opening ceremony will take place from 8:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m on August 10. Exhibition activities will take place from August 10 to August 30, 2023.

The exhibition “Japanese Dolls” presents nearly 70 traditional and modern dolls both made directly in Japan, and is displayed in two areas: Humanoid Dolls and Kokeshi Wooden Dolls.

In addition, the Provincial Museum also displays a series of photos about the Japanese and Bac Giang culture. Through this to enhance understanding of the two countries' cultures; creating conditions for children, students and people in the province to have the opportunity to exchange, learn and promote the artistic creativity of Japan.

At the "Japanese Dolls" exhibition, visitors also have the chance to experience woodblock printing, try on traditional Yukata costumes, practice Japanese Origami paper folding, and own traditional paper doll models from Japan.

The exhibition "Japanese Dolls" aims to introduce and promote traditional cultural values, tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the province; promote the image of Bac Giang and introduce the Japanese land and culture to the people in the province. Thereby contributing to strengthening the friendly relationship between Japan and Vietnam in general as well as Bac Giang province in particular.

This is an event to implement Plan No. 18/KH-UBND dated February 13, 2023 of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province on organizing a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. Previously, on March 19, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province held a program to plant cherry trees and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan at Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourist area in Son Dong district. The program has attracted a large number of tourists to visit, experience traditional dishes as well as explore the culture of the two countries Vietnam - Japan.
