Over 94,600 tons of Bac Giang’s lychee exported

As of July 5, the lychee harvest volume in Bac Giang province reached more than 176,000 tons, 97.8 percent against the plan including over 120,000 tons of main-crop lychee with the biggest productivity in Luc Ngan district (102,000 tons) followed by Luc Nam, Son Dong and Tan Yen districts. The total export volume of lychee is estimated more than 94,600 tons.

Since early this year, the promotional activities for consumption of lychee have been innovated with active engagement of the lychee growing districts (Luc Ngan and Tan Yen). Specially, the province boosted trade promotion activities with foreign partners, strengthened relations with governments of the localities in border areas to facilitate export of lychee, organized trade promotional events associated with tourism such as fashion show to showcase Bac Giang lychee, collaborating with Tiktok to invite famous persons on social networks to participate in experience activities in lychee growing areas and organize promotional programs, guided and supported enterprises, cooperatives, household businesses to advertise and sell their products Tiktok, zalo platforms and supported to bring the products on big e-commerce platforms.

As a result, more than 176,000 tons of lychee had been harvested as of July 5, reaching 97.8 percent against the plan including over 120,000 tons of main-crop lychee with the biggest productivity in Luc Ngan district (102,000 tons) followed by Luc Nam, Son Dong and Tan Yen districts.

Besides, over 81,000 tons of lychee have been sold to the domestic distribution channels and wholesale markets. The total export volume of lychee is estimated at more than 94,600 tons, of which Chinese market secured the leading position with 91,000 tons followed by Japanese market with 252 tons, Australia with 70 tons and the US with 32 tons.

Apart from fresh lychee, Bac Giang province also focuses on dried lychee and strengthening lychee processing into syrup, frozen and canned lychee products to meet the market demand and boost export of the products.

In 2023, Bac Giang maintains 29,700 hectares of lychee growing area with an expected output from 180,000 to 200,000 tons. Lychee has been cared under high technical standards yielding outstanding quality fruits. The Bac Giang’s lychee harvest season in 2023 starts from late May to the end of July.
