The regulation on visa exemption for overseas Vietnamese

(September 24, 2015) Vietnamese government issued the decree No. 82/2015/NĐ-CP regulating visa exemption for Vietnamese expatriates, and foreign people who are spouses and children of Vietnamese expatriates or Vietnamese citizens.

(September 24, 2015) Vietnamese government issued the decree No. 82/2015/NĐ-CP regulating visa exemption for Vietnamese expatriates, and foreign people who are spouses and children of Vietnamese expatriates or Vietnamese citizens.

According to the Decree, people who have passport nhà hàng tiệc cưới or international travel documents valid at least 01 year, and certificate paper showing identity of Vietnamese residing abroad or foreign people being spouses and children of Vietnamese expatriates or Vietnamese citizens and not  falling into the cases subject to suspension from entry and exit stipulated in Article 21 and Article 28 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of foreigners in Viet Nam can apply for visa exemption.

The dossier includes: passport or international travel Ắc quy xe máy document or permanent residence permit papers by the authorities of foreign countries to Vietnamese residing abroad; a declaration of application for a visa exemption certificate attached with 02 photos (01 photo pasted in the declaration);  documents proving that the applicant is among the subjects eligible for visa exemption. The dossier is submitted to competent Vietnamese visa-granting agency abroad or the Vietnam Immigration Department.

Visa exemption certificate shall be valid for up to 05 years and expires at least 6 months before the expiration of the holder’s passport or international travel document and granted to persons entering Viet Nam for family visit and settlement of personal business.

The decree also defines the Loa phóng thanh sequence and procedures for re-granting visa exemption certificate; temporary residence certificate; extension of temporary residence; revocation of visa exemption for those eligible for visa exemption.

Decree comes into effect from November 15, 2015.
