Bac Giang ranks 4th nationwide in provincial competitiveness index
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced the annual report on provincial competitiveness index (PCI). According to the reports, Bac Giang gained 69.75 out of 100-point scale and ranked 4 out of 63 provinces and cities after Quang Ninh province, Long An province and Hai Phong city. Bac Giang was among the top 30 provinces and cities with the best governance quality in 2023.
The PCI report in 2023 was built based on feedbacks from 10,000 businesses operating in 63 centrally-run provinces and cities in Vietnam.
The annual PCI assessment aims to help provinces and cities clearly identify current difficulties and challenges facing businesses, thereby making recommendations to create a more favorable business environment for the businesses, gradually improve the quality of economic governance of provinces and cities, boost up local socio-economic development.
According to an analysis of the PCI sub-indices, Bac Giang gained highest score in the legal institutions and security and order with 7.9 points as well as increased scores in several indicators like market entry (7.05 points), time costs (7.71 points), and business support policies (7.24 points).
The PCI ranking
In 2023, Bac Giang province concentrated on dramatically implement numerous solutions for improving the investment and business climate. Particularly, the province paid attention to administrative procedure reform, organized regular dialogues to listen to opinions and complaints of the citizens and businesses to timely handle obstacles.
Although Bac Giang was in top 10 provinces and cities in PCI ranking, its PCI ranking fell down by 2 places compared to 2022 due to decreased scores in some indices including land access, transparency, equal competitiveness, proactivity of provincial leadership and labour training.

On this occasion, VCCI President and USAID Director awarded insignias for 10 provinces and cities gaining the best achievements in performing PCI in 2023 including Bac Giang province.
